DENTAL CARE

Dentistry is an important part of your horse's general health care. An oral exam is recommenced yearly to help monitor normal wear and identify potential problems. Discomfort in the mouth can lead to poor weight gain, a decrease in their performance and bad behaviour.

ABOUT
OUR CLINIC

Jen grew up in humble Western Sydney with a passion for the land that skipped a generation in her family. Often labelled the black sheep, she picked up horse poo and vet nursed at a small animal clinic from the age of 12 trying to cement her feet in a world she loved.

As a vet, Jen is known as the “Mcgyver”, she's direct, honest and compassionate and will make something work. She has a strong passion for emergency medicine, those midnight colic horses where surgery isn’t an option – the 2am calving with the cow in pelvic paralysis – the 5am horse stuck in a fence and degloved its legs to a star steak in the chest.  Jen REALLY enjoys emergency field surgery such as removing an eye or an emergency hoof wall strip.

Of course, all aspect of Artificial Reproduction are really what get her going – from scanning mares every 6 hours, to inseminating 30 year old semen – to flushing fertilised and unfertilised embryos to dealing with uterine infections - she really is happiest with her hand up a horse or cows bottom! Lets not forget the boys though - Jen started here, collecting both stallions and bulls all over the world with the use of the Artificial Vagina – mimicking the most natural collection environment to yield the best ejaculate.

Jen really enjoys her geriatric patients – from dental care – to osteoarthritis management - to end of life discussion. Its Jen's 'not like most' approach that forms her non judgemental basis and allows her to approach situations with care, consideration, empathy and kind nature.

What Jen won’t compromise on is her safety and the safety of the horse and the owners in her care – she takes this privilege VERY seriously.
