Jenn Head shot.jpg

Hello

Jen dreams big and fights for those dreams. Her personal goals revolve around being present, being up to date, being innovative, having integrity and honesty in all manners in which she conducts herself. Jen has a strong passion for the mental health of veterinarians, as an industry with one of the highest rates of suicide she is very open about her own battles and hopes that her voice in this space can make a difference during her career. Jen strongly believes vets are not compensated enough for the hours we put in, the dedication we show to our clients, and the making impossible seem possible.

Professionally, Jen strives to be a leader in maintaining horse and client relationships / communications while practicing a medicine that is gold standard but also aligns with expectations and outcomes especially financially. No question is too small or irrelevant. Jen has established an incredibly knowledgeable group of mentors that she regularly checks in with and collaborates with – together they would span hundreds of years of knowledge and application. Jen has a dream to build a clinic with like-minded veterinarians for the commercial folk out there.

My Story

Jennifer grew up in the western suburbs of Sydney with a passion for the veterinary world from a young age. Jen grew up as a second generation Australian to a European family. Jen didn’t grow up on the land however had deep family ties back in her grandparent’s generation to intensive farming in Poland – Jen claims it skipped everyone and found her!

At the age of 12, she started volunteering at the local small animal vet clinic as well as working at a local tourist farm while completing schooling. At 16 she left home and moved to Wagga Wagga to complete her undergraduate double degree in Equine Science and Agriculture Science. This is where the love for Equine Artificial Reproduction was cultivated.

Jen always knew she wanted to be a vet, but it wasn’t an easy road –  she failed subjects, she was rejected from vert school, she started vet school and then left. Jen travelled, worked and studied overseas for 14 years her last 6 year ‘stint’ was in New Zealand where she spent her years learning and managing large scale breeding centres and providing on farm reproductive services. Jen was committed to gaining the international experience to bring everything she knew home.

During this time Jen completed multiple degrees including a Biological Science Degree and a Master’s in animal Reproduction at Massey University in NZ. As a mature age student, Jen completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

Throughout the journey, Jen cultivated relationships with farming enterprises such as breeding wagyu and Quarter Horses where she considers ‘home’ down in the Canberra region.

Jen is a vibrant, passionate and dedicated veterinarian that has a strong affinity with horses, cattle and clients and a deep passion for veterinarian mental health and psychology – it’s this fact that makes Jen stand out from the rest.
